The Flyers waived wingers Chris Porter and Colin McDonald on Wednesday, and now have to cut just one more player to get their roster down to 23. Both are expected to clear waivers Thursday and be sent to the AHL Phantoms.
GM Ron Hextall and coach Dave Hakstol must decide whether to keep seven or eight defensemen and that will determine the last cut.
The Flyers have eight D-men and 14 forwards left in camp.
Barring a trade or an injury, the last spot will probably go to either center Scott Laughton or defenseman Brandon Manning.
Both are in Wednesday’s lineup for the Flyers’ preseason game against the visiting Devils.
