Prior to Thursday night’s game against the Nashville Predators, the Flyers unveiled a bronze 9-foot statue of their late founder, Ed Snider.
Thursday night also marked the 50th anniversary of the first Flyers home game back in 1967.
On the statue, there is a Stanley Cup championship ring on his left ring finger. Fans can touch it to encourage good luck for the team.
Under Mr. Snider, the Flyers won two Cups- one in 1974, and another in 1975.
Many Flyers greats joined the ceremony, including Bernie Parent and Bobby Clarke.
In addition, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman took to the podium to address the crowd.
