Flyers turn their attention to the Capitals

One day after beloved team chairman Ed Snider died after a two-year battle with bladder cancer, the Flyers tried to regroup and get ready for the gargantuan task that awaits them: a first-round playoff matchup with mighty Washington.

Wayne Simmonds, the ultra-consistent right winger who led the team with a career-high 32 goals and emerged as one of the locker room leaders, called Monday a "tragic loss in the Flyers family."

"We'll be playing with heavy hearts. But at the end of the day, I think Mr. Snider wanted us to win a Stanley Cup," he said after Tuesday's practice in Voorhees.
