With the 54th pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, the Philadelphia Flyers have selected defenseman Emil Andrae from the HV71 of the Swedish Hockey League.
After splitting time last season between the SHL and the SuperElit, Sweden’s top junior league, Andrae is starting his 2020-21 campaign playing against men in the SHL. Through five games he has one assist so far. His 2019-20 campaign in the SuperElit league was spectacular, as he logged 11 goals and 38 points in 40 games.
At 5’9 and 183 pounds, Andrae’s size didn’t help his case for being a first-round prospect.
