The Philadelphia Flyers’ current best player is going nowhere.
Announced by the team on Thursday afternoon, the Flyers have signed winger Travis Konecny to an eight-year, $70-million contract ($8.75-million AAV) that will keep him in Philadelphia through the 2032-33 season. Konecny was going to be an unrestricted free agent next summer.
Konecny has led the Flyers in scoring for the past three seasons and has recently come off a campaign that saw him score 33 goals and 68 points in 76 games, which made it back-to-back seasons where the winger surpassed the 30-goal mark.
