The 2014 second round pick for the Flyers opened his season in the QMJHL last night with a bang. Nicolas Aubé-Kubel helped pull his team, the Val-d’Or Foreurs, out of their slow start with a goal to tie the game a 1-1 18 seconds into the second period. That seemed to wake the Foreurs up as they went on to score three more in the second, then another three in the third.

Aubé-Kubel notched one of those third period goals, a late one at that, and also was the only assist on the final goal the Foreurs scored with about a minute and thirty seconds left in the game.
