The Flyers' playoff chances took a severe hit Sunday when the club announced that backup goalie Michal Neuvirth would miss three weeks — the rest of the regular season — with a lower-body injury.
That means Steve Mason will have to carry the heavy load the rest of the way.
The Flyers have 12 games left, including four sets of back-to-back games. They are three points behind Detroit for the final wild-card spot but have two games in hand on the Red Wings.
Neuvirth has a suspected groin pull. He is 17-8-4 with a 2.28 GAA and .
