EDMONTON -- It seemed a bit peculiar when it was clear after yesterday's morning skate in Vancouver that Evgeny Medvedev would be scratched for the first time all season.
The Russian defenseman had been one of the Flyers' best blue liners for the first few weeks of the season but was coming off of a few lackluster performances. Even still, he seemed unworthy of being a healthy scratch, given his puck-moving ability.
Adding to the peculiarity, a black practice jersey hung from Medvedev's locker stall Tuesday, but he did not skate alongside Sean Couturier or Chris Conner.
