Flyers may appeal Schenn suspension

Upset with the NHL's decision to suspend forward Brayden Schenn for the first three games of next season, Flyers general manager Ron Hextall is considering an appeal.

According to the collective-bargaining agreement, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman would hear the appeal if it is filed.

Schenn was suspended for charging Washington's T.J. Oshie in Game 6 of the opening-round series on Sunday. The Capitals won, 1-0, and eliminated the Flyers from the NHL playoffs.

"I was very surprised," Hextall said of the decision. "I was very disappointed, and we will consider the process. Whether we will or not, we haven't dug into it hard enough yet.
