ANAHEIM, Calif. - Goalie Steve Mason has been overworked the last six-plus weeks and had to leave Friday's game because of an injured left hand.
But it was Mason, not impressive rookie Anthony Stolarz, who was in the net Sunday night against the Ducks.
In a surprising move, Flyers coach Dave Hakstol gave Mason his 21st start in the last 23 games.
"He had a good practice [Saturday] and he's good to go," coach Dave Hakstol said before the game.
Hakstol said he briefly considered Stolarz but that "Mase has been the guy who has done a great job for us and I didn't give it a whole lot of second thought.
