Many of the players struggling on the fringe of the roster where high-priced veterans. Luke Schenn, Vincent Lecavalier, Sam Gagner and Andrew MacDonald all fall into that category. Other young players such as Brandon Manning and Scott Laughton have earned a spot on the team, although only Scott Laughton was waiver-exempt. To be sent down, Brandon Manning would need to clear waivers, and other teams may have pounced.
