The Flyers on Wednesday announced the hiring of Kris Knoblauch as assistant coach.
The 38-year-old Knoblauch had been the head coach of the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League since Nov. 29, 2012. This past season, Erie won the OHL championship and reached the final of the Memorial Cup before losing to Windsor.
Shortly after the NHL regular season, in April, the Flyers did not renew the contract of assistant coach Joe Mullen. He had been in charge of the team's power play.
"Kris has had great success at the junior level with the Erie Otters and Kootenay Ice," Flyers general manager Ron Hextall said in a statement.
