Rookie coach Dave Hakstol selected Michal Neuvirth to start the Flyers' latest critical game, but the goalie was unable to play Saturday against Pittsburgh because of a mysterious illness or injury.
Neuvirth played brilliantly on Wednesday in a 3-2 win in Chicago; it was his first game since he missed a scheduled March 12 start because of a stomach virus.
Oddly, general manager Ron Hextall, when asked if Neuvirth was sidelined Saturday because of an injury or illness, replied, "we will know [Sunday]."
Hextall would only say Neuvirth "wasn't feeling right."
Steve Mason played well in Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Penguins.
