NEW YORK – After undergoing a pair of knee surgeries and missing almost the entire 2017-18 season, Anthony Stolarz has worked himself back into shape and back into the Flyers' crowded goalie picture.
Stolarz, thrust into action because Alex Lyon suffered an injury during warm-ups, stopped 31 of 32 shots Tuesday to spark the Flyers past the New York Islanders, 5-1, in a preseason game at the Barclays Center.
The Flyers improved to 2-1 on the preseason heading into Wednesday's game against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden.
Stolarz, the goalie the Flyers protected in last year's expansion draft for Vegas, had been scheduled to play the last half of Tuesday game.
