EDMONTON, Alberta - Backup goalie Michal Neuvirth nearly stole a win for the Flyers in their farewell performance at Rexall Place on Tuesday night.
Nearly.
Neuvirth was brilliant. The Flyers weren't. Edmonton pinned the slower Flyers in their own end most of the night and rallied for a much-deserved 4-2 victory.
The win was costly for the Oilers. Edmonton center Connor McDavid, the rookie sensation who one day figures to be the face of the NHL, appeared to slip as he crashed into the end boards late in the second period. He left the ice holding his left shoulder and did not return.
