UNIONDALE, N.Y. — Rookie forwards Mike Vecchione and Oskar Lindblom, trying to earn a roster spots, made a good impressions Sunday afternoon in the Flyers’ 3-2 overtime loss to the New York Islanders, who made their homecoming at the energized Nassau Coliseum.
John Tavares won it 34 seconds into OT.
It was the first exhibition game for both teams, and it was the first time the Islanders had returned to the refurbished (and smaller) arena since they left for the Barclays Center in Brooklyn in the 2015-16 season.
The Isles will play home games at Barclays this season but are looking to relocate.
