WINNIPEG, Manitoba – For the umpteenth time, the Flyers will face a backup goalie when they meet Winnipeg on Tuesday night at the MTS Centre.
On most occasions, they haven’t been able to take advantage of the supposedly weaker goaltender.
On Tuesday, they will face Michael Hutchinson, who will make his first start since Jan. 16. He is 5-11-3 with a 3.18 goals-against average and .896 save percentage.
In a relief appearance Sunday, Hutchinson stopped all 13 shots he faced in the third period, aiding a 5-4 win over Minnesota.
“He’s going in with some confidence,” Winnipeg coach Paul Maurice said.
