RALEIGH, N.C. - Maybe the Flyers didn't get the memo and thought they were still on their all-star break.
How else do you explain their dreadful performance Tuesday night in a 5-1 loss to the lowly Carolina Hurricanes at PNC Arena?
Sebastian Aho registered his first career hat trick, and the Flyers gave goalie Steve Mason little support. Their turnovers led to Carolina's first two goals, and they were outhustled to loose pucks all night.
Their offense was even worse.
The Flyers managed just a total of six shots in the first two periods and fell into a 4-0 hole.
