The Flyers, who have missed the playoffs twice in the last three years and haven’t won the Stanley Cup since 1975, will open their 49th NHL season Oct. 8 at Eastern Conference champion Tampa Bay.
The Lightning’s defense includes ex-Flyers Braydon Coburn and Matt Carle.
The Flyers released their schedule Thursday, and they will play their first home game Oct. 12 against Jaromir Jagr and the Florida Panthers.
On Oct. 14, the Flyers will host the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks, who will make their lone WFC appearance of the season.
Once again this season, the Flyers will play all of their divisional opponents at least four times – twice at home and twice on the road.
