Left winger Simon Gagne, who spent 11 of his 14 NHL seasons with the Flyers, officially announced his retirement Tuesday.
Gagne, 35, was one of the classiest players to ever play for the Flyers, He won a Stanley Cup with the Kings in 2012, and he played 23 games and scored three goals with the Bruins last season before leaving the team to be with his ailing father.
In a statement released by the Flyers, Gagne thanked his former trainers and teammates. "You inspired me to surpass myself. You made me understand that you need more than talent," he said.
