Center Sean Couturier did not take part in Monday's morning skate because of an unspecified injury and he will not play in Monday's night's preseason game against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden.
At the morning skate, Sam Gagner replaced Couturier on the second line, centering R.J. Umberger and Wayne Simmonds.
Scott Laughton, battling for a roster spot, centered Chris VandeVelde and Ryan White.The other lines att he skate: Claude Giroux centered Michael Raffl and Jake Voracek; Vinny Lecavalier centered Matt Read and Brayden Schenn; and Pierre-Edouard Bellemare centered Chris Porter and Colin McDonald.
The Giroux line may sit tonight.
