Andrew MacDonald waived by the Philadelphia Flyers

After one season of a six year, $30 million contract, Andrew MacDonald has been waived by Ron Hextall and the Philadelphia Flyers. Wow.

On April 15, 2014, the Philadelphia Flyers signed defenseman Andrew MacDonald to a six-year, $30 million contract, apparently signifying that he would be a core member of the team for the foreseeable future.

After only one season under the contract, Ron Hextall and the Flyers have seen enough.

Hextall announced this morning that the team placed MacDonald on waivers with the intent of sending him to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
