There was a tiny glimmer of optimism around Earl Wolff about a week and a half ago, when Wolff spent several days practicing fully for the first time since undergoing microfracture surgery last November.
That glimmer was doused before it really took hold. By the time the Eagles started to seriously prepare for last Sunday's preseason opener, Wolff was sitting out practice again. He didn't play in the game, and Wolff did not practice Tuesday, when the Eagles reconvened.
You might recall that back in the spring. Chip Kelly seemed exasperated, telling reporters that Wolff had been cleared to practice but wasn't practicing.
