Fifth in a series on high-profile players in the NFL draft.
The Eagles picked an edge rusher or defensive tackle with their top pick in nine of their last 20 drafts, a labor that has not been fruitful often enough to keep them from wanting to try it again.
So on Thursday night, if the Eagles' first-round pick plays on the defensive line, a faction of fans might respond, "Another one?"
But they only need to look at the ages of the Eagles' top three defensive ends (Brandon Graham and Vinny Curry will be 29 this season, and Chris Long signed on his 32nd birthday) and the 2016 production (all of the Eagles' defensive ends combined for only 161/2 sacks) to realize why the Eagles need more help rushing the quarterback.
