Because the main theme was about finding a cure for autism, I was hesitant to criticize Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie over the editorial he wrote for Time magazine last month.
Like Lurie’s family, autism has touched my family and like him, I would like nothing more than to see our government and society work collectively to eliminate autism and other scourges like cancer and Alzheimer’s.
What bothered me, however, was Lurie’s contention that our society could operate better if it worked more like a football team.
“What I have learned from football can be applied to society at large,” Lurie said in his editorial.
