Carson Wentz suffered a hairline fracture in his ribs in the Eagles' preseason opener Thursday. There is no exact timetable for his return, but the team hopes to have Wentz back "before the end of the preseason."
Wentz felt discomfort and soreness early in practice on Saturday. He did not participate in team drills, watching practice in uniform while the Eagles used their other three quarterbacks. He underwent a CT scan Saturday afternoon, when the injury was discovered.
Wentz hurt his ribs when he was hit there by Buccaneers linebacker Micah Awe on his second-to-last play in the fourth quarter.
