Utah's Rowe may be best safety fit for Eagles in draft

The Eagles picked a bad year to need a safety. Their ongoing search for stability at the position continues this week, although they're assessing a position that is considered one of the weakest in this draft class.

Their plight is complicated by rigid demands at the position that narrow their draft possibilities. Traditional in-the-box safeties are not appealing to the Eagles. They want the two starting safeties to be interchangeable, so they search for versatile players who have the characteristics of both a strong safety and a free safety.

"We like those guys to be able to roll down and play slot coverage," said Ed Marynowitz, vice president of player personnel.
