Coming out of halftime, the Eagles looked to bounce back from a rough second quarter that saw them outscored 21-7. Instead, the Buccaneers owned the majority of the third quarter in terms of time of possession and extended their lead to 35-14.
The Buccaneers elected to kick off to the Eagles to start the game, meaning they began the third quarter with the ball and a 14-point lead. On the opening drive of the second half, Tampa Bay drove 80 yards in 15 plays, using up nearly 10 minutes of game clock in the process.
The Eagles’ defense forced the Bucs into four third down situations on the drive, including two 3rd-and-longs, but they couldn’t get a stop, eventually giving up an 8-yard touchdown pass from Jameis Winstron to tight end Cameron Brate.
