Kelly goes to great lengths to try to conceal his private life, and the article was the first time his ex-wife has been mentioned. Kelly has been the subject of books, magazine profiles, and newspaper articles without Jennifer Jenkins' name ever revealed.
Jenkins is a Washington resident who met Kelly in New Hampshire on Thanksgiving in 1989 and married him in 1992 in front of about 250 guests. They divorced in 1999.
Kelly was known to have once been engaged, but he has erroneously been identified as a lifelong bachelor.
