DETROIT -- The Eagles did not suddenly become a good team between Sunday’s hideous loss to Tampa Bay and Thursday’s visit to Detroit.
For all the talk about having been embarrassed, all the rhetoric about digging deep, the Eagles’ injuries and indifferent play took center stage again as they forged a 24-7 halftime deficit against the Lions at Ford Field.
After surrendering 253 yards in the first half, the Eagles’ defense was again in position for another 500-plus-yard bashing, and was without starting cornerback Nolan Carroll, who suffered an apparently serious ankle injury.
Jason Peters, the Eagles’ sore-backed left tackle, left the game with an ankle injury on the first series, which ended in a missed 50-yard field goal by Caleb Sturgis.
