Top of the Heap: Dawuane Smoot (Illinois)
A number of big-name pass rushers are not in Mobile this week including Auburn’s Carl Lawson, Michigan’s Taco Charlton, and UCLA’s Takkarist McKinley, but Smoot is right up there with them. The two-year starter for the Illini arrived on campus as a 230-pound track guy, and now is a skilled pass rusher who has a number of moves in his repertoire to go along with a very good first step off the line.
