Safety Jerome Couplin Released

Couplin, a William and Mary graduate, was originally signed by the Eagles off of the Detroit Lions' practice squad in December of 2014. He won one of the final roster spots with the Eagles after 2015 Training Camp, providing depth at the safety position as well as on special teams. He was later placed on Injured Reserve after suffering a shoulder injury in late November.

Couplin's departure opens up room in the safety group behind likely starters Malcolm Jenkins and Rodney McLeod. The Eagles also added two defensive backs in this past weekend's draft, Blake Countess and Jalen Mills, both of whom can play safety.
