The path to NFL Draft can be paved with good and bad intentions, and the occasional craziness that ends up being fodder for years to come. The latter is what looks to be happening with former first-round prospect Montez Sweat.
Early on in the pre-draft process, Sweat was considered one of the top defensive lineman in the 2019 draft class. That was, until the NFL Combine, where it was reported that he was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy — a heart condition that can be treated, but not cured.
This diagnosis had some teams reportedly removing Sweat from their draft boards altogether, so not just a simple drop to a later round, but someone they weren’t even willing to take a chance on — at least not with one of their draft picks.
