The Philadelphia Eagles are signing practice squad tight end Alex Ellis to their 53-man roster, according to a report from NJ.com writer and BGN alumnus Mike Kaye.
The Eagles had an open roster to fill after placing Cre’Von LeBlanc on injured reserve earlier this week.
Prior to promoting Ellis, the Eagles only had two tight ends on the 53: Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert. Doug Pederson suggested Andre Dillard could get some playing time as a blocking tight end, which is still possible, but the Eagles decided to add more depth at the position.
