The Eagles are in talks to trade Byron Maxwell to the Miami Dolphins, according to an NFL Network report. The report stated the two teams are in “deep discussions.”
Maxwell, 28, is entering the second year of a six-year, $63 million contract. He has a salary-cap number of $9.7 million this season. If the Eagles dealt him, they would save $4.9 million in cap space. They would absorb the rest of that cap number in dead money, although the Eagles would get out of the remainder of Maxwell’s deal. He counts $11.2 million against the cap from 2017-2020.
