With the Philadelphia Eagles‘ recent signing of 40-year-old Josh McCown, we may have seen the culmination of the quarterback carousel as it relates to backup quarterbacks this offseason. Something like that would make any fan ponder who the best and worst backup signings in team history were.
There were a decent amount that were surprisingly successful, others not so much.
Honorable mention: Doug Pederson
Doug Pederson started the 1999 season keeping the starting spot warm for an incumbent Donovan McNabb before ‘5’ took over for good. You would probably agree that the only Super Bowl-winning coach in Philadelphia Eagles’ history deserves a shout out.
