Philadelphia Eagles have the most hated fan base in the NFL

It’s no secret that fans of the Philadelphia Eagles don’t have the greatest reputation around the world. They’ve constantly been scrutinized for how hostile and passionate they are which sometimes leads to crossing the boundaries. But things have seemed to calm down a bit in recent years and since the team’s move to Lincoln Financial Field.

Yet somehow the Eagles’ fan base was named as the “most hated fan base” in the NFL, according to this piece done by SI.com’s staff. It appears as though Philadelphia’s current fan base is getting bashed for things that have happened years ago but here’s their full explanation:

It all started in December 1968, when those disenchanted fans of the Eagles sitting at Franklin Field decided that the best way to unleash their invective was to hurl snowballs at Frank Olivo, a 19-year-old man who stepped onto the field in a Santa Claus suit.
