One stat that I never understood before a season starts is strength of schedule. It just doesn’t make sense. After eight games of the 2015 season, the Raiders have a .500 record, the Panthers have more wins than they had all of last year, and the Lions may claim fourth in a division that what was supposed to be the strongest one in the league. Computing strength of schedule from the previous season’s records before teams kick off game one is fundamentally useless. Doing it before week 10 is a little different.
The NFC East has one of the most intriguing races to the finish of the season of any division.
