The San Francisco 49ers have informed Torrey Smith of his coming release. The Philadelphia Eagles, who are desperate to sign a competent receiver, could be the most likely candidate to land the 28-year-old wideout.
Former All-Pro wideout Steve Smith broke the news (weird, I know) via Twitter.

Smith’s release isn’t particularly surprising. In two seasons with the 49ers, he has recorded a grand total of 53 receptions for just 930 yards and seven touchdowns.
