Come June, we’re all going to be talking about 87 years of Philadelphia Eagles football. There have been hundreds of coaches, thousands of players to don that iconic green jersey, and four championships to celebrate.
The first two came in back-to-back fashion in 1948 and 1949. Another came as Buck Shaw led 1960’s version of the “Birds” to their third championship in a 17-13 victory over the Green Bay Packers which was, interestingly enough, the only playoff game Vince Lombardi lost as a head coach.
Two Super Bowls followed. Both were losses, but the Eagles’ third trip to football’s biggest game would prove to be the charm.
