Drafted in the sixth round (196th overall) in this year’s draft, rookie safety Blake Countess isn’t expected to become a beacon of dependability for the Philadelphia Eagles any time soon. However, he does provide the Eagles some much needed safety depth, one of the team’s more overlooked weak spots going into the 2016 season.
Countess began his collegiate career at Michigan in 2011 where he immediately contributed at cornerback as a true freshman, recording 44 tackles, six pass deflections and a forced fumble. After suffering a torn ACL as a sophomore in 2012, Countess was eligible to become a redshirt sophomore the following year, where he responded to the season-ending injury by recording six interceptions for the Wolverines.
