Peyton Manning, like John Elway, retiring on super terms

PEYTON MANNING is doing it the right way.

Later on Monday, the Denver Broncos quarterback will announce that after 18 seasons, he is retiring from the National Football League.

The lasting image of Manning's spectacular career will be of him holding the trophy for Super Bowl 50.

It does not matter that Manning played just below average in the Broncos' 24-10 victory over the Carolina Panthers.

It does not matter that many of Manning's passes fluttered around Levi's Stadium, highlighting how much his physical skills had deteriorated at age 39.

The only thing that matters is that Manning walked off the field that night as a champion.
