Eagles coach Doug Pederson confirmed an ESPN report that the Eagles are considering using rookie fifth-round pick Halapoulivaati Vaitai at right tackle if/when Lane Johnson’s 10-game PED suspension kicks in.
Previously, Pederson had said the Eagles were going to slide left guard Allen Barbre over to right tackle to replace Johnson and plug in veteran Stefen Wisniewski at left guard.
“He’s definitely in the mix,’’ Pederson said Wednesday of the 6-6, 315-pound rookie out of TCU. “Talking with coach (Jeff) Stoutland and watching Big V closely, not only in the preseason but in practices the last few weeks (we’re considering starting him at right tackle).
