The Eagles don't have a designated slot cornerback when the team plays a nickel defense, but starting cornerback Nolan Carroll could be in that spot when the Eagles open the season against the Falcons on Monday.
Carroll has worked at nickel cornerback during practice, and he said he "probably" would play there.
This is not a major surprise. The Eagles showed that look in the third preseason game against the Packers. Carroll played on the outside in the base formation and moved to the slot when the team went to the nickel. Eric Rowe played on the outside then.
