In case you weren’t aware, the Philadelphia Eagles signed Carson Wentz to a four-year contract extension worth $128 million. Kind of a big deal! Here are some thoughts on the news.
Whether you approve of the deal or not, the fact remains: Wentz is the Eagles’ starting quarterback for the foreseeable future. This new contract ties him to the Eagles through the 2024 season. That’s at least five more years of Wentz in Philly.
Of course, we already knew the Eagles viewed Wentz as the team’s franchise cornerstone. Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie, executive vice president of football operations Howie Roseman, and head coach Doug Pederson all expressed verbal commitment to Wentz this offseason.
