The Eagles won their second preseason game against the Patriots, 14-13, and head coach Nick Sirianni spoke to reporters afterward about the increasingly interesting QB battle for the backup role. He also reflected on Jalen Hurts’ performance during their joint practice on Tuesday, and about the starting right guard job.
He explained his decision not to play the starters on Thursday night, revealing that they ran about 89 plays against the Patriots during their joint practice, and that was a quick turnaround to ask them to play again two days later. Sirianni also said that they had a good physical practice, with a lot of good one-on-one reps, so he felt like they got enough work in that area.
