New Eagles coach should coach, period

AGAIN AND again we hear that the Eagles will make a significant hire to bolster their gutted front office. We hear that, for whatever reason, they will add a fertile football mind to supplement their top personnel pros, money man Howie Roseman and grizzled scout Tom Donahoe.

Meanwhile, the Eagles conduct coaching interview after coaching interview: running backs coach Duce Staley; offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur; Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase; Giants offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo; Chiefs offensive coordinator Doug Pederson; and, on Monday, former Giants head coach Tom Coughlin.

One report said Texas A & M coach Kevin Sumlin already turned down the Eagles' overtures again, as he did in 2013.
