Chip Kelly ended the mystery of why running back DeMarco Murray was held out of most of Sunday’s first training camp practice.
No, he’s not hurt. He just wasn’t hydrated enough to suit the Eagles’ sports scientists.
“That was our decision,’’ Kelly said. “We do a hydration status test. And he was a little bit high. And obviously, when you see guys that are a little bit high from a hydration standpoint, you kind of pull them back a little bit. Because that’s when they’re susceptible for an injury.’’
In other news, Kelly said linebacker Travis Long tore his ACL during a punt return drill in Monday’s practice.
