Back in March, the Daily News reported that the reason Eagles safety Walter Thurmond, coming off an excellent year, hadn't signed here or anywhere was that he was leaning toward retirement.
Apparently, the leaning is over and Thurmond is retiring, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter and others.
Thurmond, who turns 29 in August, bailed the Eagles out bigtime last season, after signing a one-year deal as a corner. He switched to safety for the first time in his career and started all 16 games, setting career highs in tackles (76), interceptions (3), sacks (2), and forced fumbles (2).
