IN THIS MOMENT, it's important to remember that Doug Pederson is a rookie, too.
Rookies make mistakes.
Pederson made a couple of obvious blunders Sunday in the Eagles' 24-23 loss at Detroit.
Pederson didn't fumble the ball away or throw the interception that turned a likely win into a gutting loss. Still, in the first game he has coached that was decided close and late, Pederson cost the team as much as any player.
That's because Pederson designs and calls the offensive plays. Specifically, Pederson called the last two plays.
It was Pederson who, on third-and-2 from the Eagles' 45, called for Ryan Mathews toward the right sideline instead of up the middle.
